Publication of GP Net Earnings
“NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is published by 31 March 2016 at the latest. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method of calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and this should not be used for any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparisons with other practices.”
As per the GMS contract 2015/16 we have to calculate and publish our net GP Earnings for 2015/16.
In 2015/16 we had two full time GPs, 2 part time GPs and one part time locum for 12 months.
The average earnings for a full time GP at our practice was £90,898 before tax, pension contributions in excess of 14.5%, and National Insurance.
This equates to an average hourly rate of £28.62 for our GPs in 2015/16.
This practice has received a payment of £67.92 per patient/ per year to provide unlimited medical care for our patients. In comparison, the average cost of a hospital attendance is £150, whilst an ambulance call out is £275.
