The practice nurses are available by appointment every weekday. They provide a treatment service which includes first aid to minor injuries, dressing of wounds and leg ulcers, removal of sutures, routine injections and immunisations. They are also able to perform cervical smears, give contraceptive advice and advise on vaccinations for foreign travel. Our practice nurses are highly trained and run specialist clinics in diabetes, coronary heart disease and asthma.

Our healthcare assistants supports the practice nurses in their clinical duties, enabling them to concentrate on their specialist roles. Please make appointments with the healthcare assistant for blood pressure monitoring, measuring height and weight and taking of bloods.

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Community Patient Support Team
A team of nurses led by a clinical manager, with a skill mix including a community matron and intermediate care nurse.
Specialist care is delivered to patients in their own home. This may include holistic assessment, clinical skills, palliative care, health education and liaison and referral to appropriate agencies. The Patient Support Team can be contacted via the surgery.
Health visitors provide advice on health care, working mainly with families and small children. They are also involved in assessing the development of babies and young children. To contact the team call 01489 554930.
Please contact a health visitor if you have recently moved into the area with a child under the age of five. The Out-of-Hours Health Visiting Service is available by contacting 02392 286000 – bleep 1192 (365 days a year, 18:00 - 22:00).
